Lion Cubs Are Just Too Cute!

I love scrapbooking and jump at the opportunity to create a layout using fab new products. I made this page using my new paper from Momenta. These beautiful designs come from a generous paper pad called Chloes Garden Pyramid pad. The embellishments are also from Momenta so head on over to get the product details if you likey :)

These pictures were taken last year when we visited South Africa. The White Lion Sanctuary allows visitors to pet lion cubs. We want to seriously own one - for real. They are THE cutest little creatures ever!

Today this Monday started out pretty good with me ready to tackle my weekly chores with vigor and enthusiasm! Alas here I sit, in the car repair shop, waiting to hear the diagnosis of my breaks. I am told metal sounding on metal is indeed not a good thing.

Circus Fun & Free Stickers!

Dressing up plain kraft gift bags is one of my all time favorite craft projects to do. This is a Birthday set I made using Momenta products. {Decorative Border How-To}

I started by making my card base by folding the white cardstock in half. Cut a panel from blue paper to fit the front of the card.
Position Spellbinders Edgeabilities® Pointed Edge Decorative Insert and Classic Petal Edge die templates on the patterned paper. Once satisfied on the placement, flip the die templates over and secure them with repositioning tape (so that the cut side of the die template is on the paper). Cut/emboss using the Grand Calibur machine.
Before matting the patterned paper on white cardstock, lay the paper down and position the Classic Petal Edge die template on the white cardstock so that it fits alongside the cut edge on the patterned paper. Secure the edge, cut side down, to the white cardstock and cut using the Grand Calibur machine. Adhere both the patterned paper and white cardstock panels to the front of the card.

{Design Tip}

I love how intricate these new Decorative Insert die templates are which means I can get beautiful detailed areas that are not only cut out but also embossed. If some sections don't cut on the first pass through the Grand Calibur machine simply add a paper or cardstock shim to that area and run it through the Grand Calibur machine again, then emboss for a beautiful and intricate design.

{Die Template Frame How-To}

To make a frame embellishment simply nest Labels Twenty-Four #3 and #4 (Where #1 is the smallest) die templates on a piece of cardstock with the cut side facing down. Secure both die templates with repositioning tape to the cardstock and cut with the Grand Calibur machine.

{Dimensional Frame How-To}

To achieve a shiny and dimensional frame I applied a thick layer of Beacon Adhesive's Ornament Icing. Once dry it resembles an epoxy embellisment.
Cut a Labels Twenty-Four shape for the frame backing. Assemble the frame and embellish with buttons, glitter heart shape and wire swirls.

Assemble the card and adhere elements using 3D Foam Squares and Glue Dots. Hand stitch a decorative border and finish by applying the rub-on sentiment.

For this project I used today's debuting die templates but in a slightly different way. Although I used the same Edgeabilities Pointed Edge decorative insert, I paired it up with a different edge called Classic Triple Scallop Edge from Edgeabilities Classic Edges Two die templates to cut the blue border from Graphic 45 paper.

I also used the Classic Bracket Edge die template, paired with a coordinating stamp to create the colored borders above and below my flower. The stamp is from JustRite Stampers and it is called Cast All Your Cares.

I cut the flower from WorldWin Paper's Classic Linen Cardstock using my Labels Twenty-Four die template. I cut 3 nesting shapes from the cardstock and then scored them in the corners and points. After folding along the scored lines I secured my flower to my wall sconce with a corduroy brad from Nikki Sivils.

A Masculine Card for a CHA Sneak

This has to be my favorite new release stamp set from JustRite Stampers and the last day of our first round of CHA sneak peeks. This beautiful nautically themed set is called:

Sea Shell Bay Labels Twenty Two

The set consists of 9 deeply etched red rubber cling stamps and they were designed to coordinate with S4-246 Spellbinders Labels Twenty Two die templates!

I don't know about you guys but I honestly struggle with making masculine cards. My poor husband always gets a boy card from me that does not quite live up to the more girly cards that I give to friends. This set however, is going to change that! There is just something about sea horses that is so endearing *sigh*.... I really love this set and can't wait for all the men in my life to celebrate a birthday or something!!! Thank goodness men are not into showing off cards they get otherwise my Husband, Dad, Brother and Father in Law may question the similarities in all their cards!! Good thing each one of them lives at least a continent away from each other too!

CHA Sneak Starburst Medallion

CHA Sneak's are Warm & Cozy

CHA Sneak Stamps & Custom Spellbinders Dies

Aren't you just loving all these CHA sneeks? I am! Especially when you get to see how everyone on the Design team has interpreted each day's stamp set! I love looking through the blogs and gathering inspiration to use my stamps in different ways - CHA sneak time is definitely exciting...

Well I think today's reveal is going to excite you too! The stamp set is called

Medallion Labels

and coordinates beautifully with JustRite's custom Spellbinders die set called Nested Medallion Label Dies. On this card I stamped and embossed the Medallion design and then die cut the image using the Nested Medallion Label. The sentiment is also stamped and embossed and that die cut shape is from Spellbinders Parisian Accents Motifs die template set - fits perfectly on my Medallion Label huh! The rest is scrap paper and bling that I had in my stash, including glitter paper from Best Creation Inc (love their uber thick & densely coated glitter cardstock)

Keep Calm and See CHA Sneaks

Time to share with you all the next CHA sneak peek from JustRite Stampers. This stamp set is just too cute - I love the posters that are all over Pinterest and now I can take those fun sayings and apply them to my cards. The set is called

Just Keep Calm

and consists of 64 stamps that can be mixed and matched to make fun quirky sentiments. This one is one of my favorites - The sentiment is 3 different stamps which I pieced together and then added the fun flourish medallion. I stamped and then die cut the medallion shape using JustRite stampers new custom die template called: Nested Medallion Label Dies. Too fun and I can think of at least 8 girlfriends that would appreciate this card right now! *hehe* (it was a toss up between Buy Shoes and Stamp On - shoes won today)

The music note background stamp is also from JustRite and is called

This cling stamp measures 4 1/2 x 5 3/4"and is deeply etched red rubber. The stamp is mounted on static cling foam and features a vintage edging that gives the image it's rustic shabby chic look.

Supplies: JustRite's With Sympathy Clear stamp set and Nested Oval Medallion Label Dies. Spellbinders Grand Labels Twenty-Three die template and the Grand Calibur machine, Pink Paislee Paper, Copic Markers and Want2Scrap self adhesive bling.

To make this card I started out by stamping the rose image onto cardstock and coloring them with my Copic markers. I stamped the image twice and then fussy cut portions of the second rose and adhered them to the first image with foam squares to give my flowers a lot more dimension.

I stamped my frame image onto white cardstock and positioned the JustRite/Spellbinders custom die template over the image and secured it with tape. After cutting/embossing the image with the Grand Calibur machine I stenciled over the stamped image with chalk pastels. To create the frame I needed to remove the oval center which I carefully trimmed with a pair of scissors. After adhering the frame to yellow cardstock I adhered my yellow roses to the center.

{Tip}

My stamped roses might look a little different than the original image - that's because I trimmed the roses and adhered them to the frame in a way that would make them fit snuggly within the frame. I also moved the leaves from the top of the image to the bottom stem.

Spellbinders that Glitter and Sparkle

I love sewing on my projects - actually I hand stitch on my cards, scrapbook pages and mixed media projects. I do own a sewing machine but am a bit intimidated to use it - is there someone in the Denver area that would be willing to show me how to use one? *ha*!!!! Give Flight to Your Dreams

I love butterflies so when JustRite Stampers released their:

clear stamp set I was more than pleased! I chose to make this card with this gorgeous striped ribbon and wove it into the top panel of the card which is adhered to the brown panel with foam squares. This card is a little dimensional but not too bulky to mail ;)

The sentiment on this set "Give Flight to Your Dreams" is so beautiful and can be applied to so many occasions - I am thinking Grads, newly weds, moving, new job etc. Love that! It also fits in perfectly with Cath's challenge over at Moxie Fab World called:

Giving Leftovers the Respect they Deserve!

I realize that many of you, just like me, find this time of year so hectically busy that it is hard to keep up with all the homemade crafty goodies that you would LIKE to make - never mind those things you HAVE to make (read: Christmas cards!). I created this project for today's Spellbinders Blog post to not add to the burden of crafting for the Holidays but rather to make it easier to create something fab in no time - hard to believe but true!

Leftovers are often times the neglected necessity at any special dinner party. I love leftovers and Thanksgiving leftovers are by far my favorite to savor days after the big event. I know many may identify with me as this situation arises: The meal comes to an end and I am left scrambling in my kitchen looking for the perfect size container to send home with my guests. Well this year I scramble no more! I found these cute take-out containers in the deli section of my grocer (truth be told they sent me home with two to house little Mac&Cheese cups and I could not toss them. Instead I went back for four more!). Second scenario: Telling my guests to remember which container is theirs - problem all the containers are identical. Hence my custom Lovely Labels for Leftovers tags were born. Not only can I label each container with the person's name but I can also write a personalized note inside or list the contents with reheating instructions :) Move over Martha!!!!

{Tutorial}

Place a small amount of paperclay modeling material between two s

heets of parchment paper. Position the die template with the cut side up on the Base Plate A and lay your parchment paper over it and run it through the Grand Calibur Die Cutting machine. Don't remove any paper from the cut image. Allow the image t

o dry. Decorate the image with ink products. Use a pin tack to poke a small hole to thread a jewelry hoop through.

Using a paint brush adhere the ultra thick glaze to both sides of the image (do one side first and allow to dry thoroughly before completing the other side). Cut/emboss box and lid and embellish with ink and Impressabilities die template.

{Tip}

Cut the Impressabilities using a sharp pair of scissors to fit the box. Adhere the Impressabilities section using a small adhesive dot but allow the top part of the Impressabilities to be adhesive free. When you place the lid on the box the sides of the lid can be tucked under the Impressabilities for a unique and secure clasp :)

A Wedding Card for a Special Couple

I made this wedding card for my Brother and his new wife, Amanda. They got married just this past weekend in a beautiful ceremony in South Africa surrounded by friends and family from all over the world. We are so happy to have been part of this special occasion and know that they will make each other blissfully happy for years and years to come.

I have a fun post to share today including an opportunity to win Spellbinders die templates! First up is my daughter's glittered Pumpkin. On today's Spellbinders Blog post I show you how we created this pumpkin using Spellbinders die templates to cut out vinyl shapes to form a mask on the pumpkins. I spray painted the pumpkins with glitter spray paint and decorated them with embellishments.

{Double Duty Halloween with JustRite}

My daughters did such a wonderful job decorating their pumpkins and just like any proud mama I wanted to share their creations with the world! It dawned on me that I could print out images of their works of art and incorporate them on Halloween cards - yup this mama is pleased as punch as I go Double Duty on my Halloween Decor!

{QR Codes}

Did you notice that squiggly bar code on the Lacy Border image above? That is called a Quick Response (QR) code and they seem to be popping up everywhere. QR codes are pixelated squares that you can scan with a smart phone app. Scannning the QR code with your phone will bring you directly to a website or landing page. The JustRite QR Codes on the packaging and in JustRites Catalog will link a stamp set to JustRite's Design Gallery for that set. Now you can scan the code with your phone to see what your favorite designers have created with a set before you purchase the set in your favorite store. You can use your smartphone to access the design gallery for your stamp set from your craft room when you are ready to use your set or from our mini flyers or catalogs when you are sitting in a car waiting to pick up your child from a sporting event!! Fun huh! I use these all the time. What will they think of next!

For my project I decided to make cupcake toppers and a gift bag to celebrate Fall. I used Core'dinations Color Core Cardstock in different shades for my sunflowers and the panel for my gift bag. Sanding the cardstock to reveal the core color adds great texture and a weathered vintage look to my project.

DIY Photographs on Canvas

I recently saw this technique on Girl. Inspired. and decided I simply had to make it as a birthday present for Kevin for his office. I love the distressed look of the pictures on canvas and this technique is really not that difficult at all :)

Supplies:

8x10 Canvas (I picked mine up at Michaels)
Tissue paper
Mod Podge
Foam Brush
Scrabook paper
Acrylic Paint

{How To}

1. Print your photograph on tissue paper.

Start off by taking a sheet of tissue paper and trimming it slightly larger than 8.5x11". Fold the edges of the tissue paper over a sheet of 8.5x11" cardstock and secure with tape. This will create a sturdy surface which can be fed through your printer. In your photo editing software print an 8x10 photograph onto the tissue paper.

2. Cut strips of patterned paper from scrapbook paper and adhere them with the Mod Podge to the sides of the canvas.

3. Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the front of the canvas. Remove the tissue paper from the cardstock and gently lay it on the front of the canvas. Smooth out all the bubbles using a plastic card.

4. Apply a layer of Mod Podge over the entire image, including the sides. Allow to dry.

5. Add a distressed look by filling in the white spaces along the edge with black acrylic paint.

This method of "printing" on canvas was so easy and really quite inexpensive that I am definitely going to be doing this again really soon. My In-laws have an anniversary coming up and I think this will make the perfect gift for them.

A Match Made in Heaven

Vintage inspired Stamped Candle and Gift Bag

The magic and romance of vintage Paris continues today with JustRite Stampers second release of this shabby chic collection called

Greetings from Paris

For today's project I chose to stamp on a candle using the flourish and borders stamps from both the JustRite Bon Voyage set and Greetings from Paris. I made the gift bag using the postcard and postage stamp images from Greetings from Paris. The die template is Spellbinders Fleur De Lis Rectangles.

To stamp on a candle you need a few basic supplies:

Stamp set
Tissue paper
Ink
Wax paper
Embossing heat tool
Candle
accessories & embellishments

Stamping on a candle instructions:

Stamp the image on the shiny side of the tissue paper
Carefully trim around the edges of your image.
Adhere the image to the candle by applying a small dot of adhesive
Wrap the candle in wax paper, using the ends as grip
Heat with an embossing tool until the tissue paper melts
Remove wax paper to reveal stamped image.

Bon Voyage is C'est Magnifique!

Cheers! To a Great New Year ~ Teacher Gifts

My girls have one more week left of their summer vacation before they both head off to school. We have had a wonderful vacation filled with summer time fun activities including bbq's, amusement parks, lakeside adventures and tons of pool time. I wish we had a little more time together because unlike years before I kind of wish this summer would last a little longer...

On Friday we have a meet 'n greet at school and both the girls are anxious to see their new classrooms, meet their teachers and find out who their classmates will be. We like to give a small gift to our teachers and this year I totally found my inspiration on Pinterest. I loved this idea of taking a travel mug, filling it with a yummy bevie and personalizing it too. We found these clear, cool beverage mugs at Bed, Bath and Beyond and filled them with sachets of Starbucks Via Carmel Iced Coffee (Yum)!

I chose paper from Authentique's Foundations Bi-Fold Solid Paper collections and their beautiful pink & yellow "Delight" Paper. To make the scallops I used Spellbinder's Grand 12" Big Scalloped Border Grand die template. The little monogramed tags are also from Authentique Papers. The tags are from their Tabloids collection and the letters are from their Classic Type Collection. I also love the eclectic look of this colorful fiber from Basic Grey's Romani range.

I have a few more projects to complete this week before the craziness of playing
